(US) Thanksgiving Issue

Thanksgiving is a public holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States.  It originated as a harvest festival (and so would have been celebrated much earlier than it's present date). Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, after a proclamation by President George Washington. It has been celebrated as a federal holiday every year since 1863, when, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens," to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November.   (Canadian Thanksgiving occurs on the second Monday in October).
The event that Americans commonly call the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in 1621.  This feast lasted three days, and it was attended by 90 Native American (Wampanoag) men and 53 Pilgrims.
[NOTE: Other locations claim the first Thanksgiving -- most notably being the Spanish thanksgiving meal in St Augustine, FL, in 1565, with the local Timucua tribe].

In commemeration of the 4 Puritan women (and servants) who prepared the Massachusetts Thanksgiving food, here are some women cooking (nude/semi-nude, of course -- smile)

(I know, there were no Wampanoag women at the "first Thanksgiving" but I've included them anyway)
